Hi, I’m Dylan Bishop, alumnus of Sunmarke School Dubai, and I’m thrilled to share my journey from my school days to where I am today. Attending Sunmarke from 2018 to 2020 was one of the most formative and exciting chapters of my life, and I’m forever grateful for the foundation it gave me.
Achieving Excellence at Sunmarke
I left Sunmarke with Straight A* and A grades in my A Levels and a BTEC Media Diploma. The combination of these qualifications equipped me with the skills and confidence I needed to take my next step: enrolling at Cardiff University. In 2020, I began studying Business Administration and Marketing, a course that perfectly matched my interests and ambitions.
University Years and Beyond
Graduating in 2023 with a 2:1 was a proud moment, marking the end of an incredible journey in the UK. But my heart was always drawn back to Dubai, so in the autumn of 2023, I returned home, eager to begin my career in the dynamic world of Business Development.
Breaking into the Business World
By November 2023, I had secured my first professional role as a Business Development Manager at KPS, a renowned interior fit-out and design company based in Dubai Design District. This opportunity has been nothing short of amazing. Every day, I learn something new—procurement, logistics, pricing strategies, customer relations, and even brand identity. I feel incredibly fortunate to work in such a creative and fast-paced environment where I can apply everything I’ve learned and continue to grow.
Reflections on Sunmarke
Looking back, what stands out most about my time at Sunmarke is the exceptional support I received from my teachers. They genuinely cared about my success and always encouraged me to aim high. The small class sizes made a huge difference too—it felt personal, like everyone was invested in my journey. The facilities were outstanding, and the sense of kindness and camaraderie among students and staff made it a joy to come to school every day.
Advice for Current Sunmarke Students
If I could give one piece of advice to students preparing to enter the professional world, it would be this: expect to learn a lot. The transition from school to the workplace is full of opportunities to grow and develop, so work hard, stay humble, and be grateful for every experience. Most importantly, never miss a chance to make something better—whether it’s your work, a process, or even someone’s day.
Looking Ahead
As I look to the future, my ultimate goal is to grow into the role of CEO and lead a company to its greatest possible success. I’m passionate about watching businesses thrive, and I can’t wait to see where my journey takes me next.
