Learning Beyond the Classroom
Sunmarke enriches learning beyond academics, building confidence, character, and a global outlook.
A global academic festival of ideas and collaboration
The World Scholars Cup is a celebrated international academic programme that brings together students from over 50 countries to debate, collaborate and explore some of the most compelling ideas shaping our world.
TEDx: You Are Here
Our debut TEDx event brought together 14 remarkable Sunmarke speakers — each exploring what it means to live in the “Now” while envisioning the future. It was a powerful celebration of authenticity, creativity and student voice.
TEDx: Dream Big
Our second TEDx event showcased 8 inspiring talks that explored personal ambition, global challenges and the limitless potential of human creativity. Students delivered powerful perspectives on innovation, resilience, identity and purpose — demonstrating confidence and emotional intelligence on a global stage.
These experiences nurture public speaking excellence, leadership, storytelling and self-expression.
Real-world learning beyond the classroom
Sunmarke’s regional and international residential trips are among the highlights of Secondary and Sixth Form.
In partnership with global providers such as Camps International and Ecoventure ME, students embark on immersive experiences that foster independence, teamwork, outdoor skills and global citizenship.
Each participant designs their own programme across four areas:
Service
Giving back to the community through volunteering — from first aid and charity work to coaching, outreach and supporting those in need.
Physical Recreation
Activities such as athletics, martial arts, team sports, water sports or personal fitness routines that build discipline and wellbeing.
Skill Development
Exploring new interests including music, art, photography, communication, environmental skills and more.
The Adventurous Journey
A team expedition in an unfamiliar environment involving planning, training and a physically engaging journey. Students typically spend 2 days and 1 night, completing around 12 hours of purposeful effort.
Through DofE, students gain independence, leadership, problem-solving ability and a deep sense of self-belief.
Compassion, leadership and service in action
Volunteering is a profound expression of Sunmarke’s values. Our student volunteers work closely with the Inclusion Department, serving as peer coaches and “buddies” during training sessions for students of determination.
